If you are having trouble with your partner or kids leaving DVD or CD cases empty try putting all your library on an external hardrive and using it through a media centre. It is a little time consuming setting up but once done you will have no further problems with lost discs or empty cases again. Plus you can always put them back on a CDRW or DVDRW when you want to take them off and use them on a portable device.

If your schedule is hectic make sure you put in place easy to use systems that everyone in the household will be able to follow.

• Keep a list if you like to bulk buy so that you know how many of each item you have stored at home and what you need to purchase when you go to the store
